Maori Matching words for a powhiri

This week we have been doing some Te Reo Maori. Some people used Google Translate, and some just know from their own brain. We also colour coded it so that we know what the Maori words mean in English.  These are words that would be used during a powhiri.

Lit Quiz Kerikeri

Hello,
Yesterday was Lit Quiz, and it went ok. We entered two teams and my team came last. We went up against year 7's and 8's and year six's. It was held in the Kerikeri primary school hall. They asked 50 questions. There were also some questions where you could win 5 dollars or get everyone in your team 20 dollar gift cards. The other Ohaeawai team came 20th out of 29. Sorry no Photos.

Cricket

Kia Ora,
This week we split up in 2 groups and went out to Cricket and we each had a coach. I had Neil and the  others had another guy named Ben. We learnt techniques for throwing the ball, and catching it. Finally we actually got to play speed cricket. We had two teams made out of our one team. My team lost!!!!!

Andy Warhol Art

This week we did some more art on our computers. We did art like Andy Warhol's, and I think mine looks good. We did it on Pixlr, and we did it really quick.  We had to choose different contrasts to make it look effective.  Here is my piece of art work. Hope you like it.

My Chimera

Hi guys,
I have been doing heaps of art this week and I just finished my chimera and it has turned out really good.
It is part Mermaid part Butterfly. It took me two days. I think I did well colouring it in. Something I need to work on is not trying to rush on it. You can learn about my chimera by reading the text at the bottom of the picture.

Persuasive Writing

Kia Ora everyone, 

Today I am going to show you guys my Persuasive Writing I did this week. We have been learning different types of legends and we have done writing about MAUI! We did Persuasive writing about how he could be a great mythical hero, which in my opinion he was a great mythical hero.  I hope you guys enjoy reading my Persuasive Writing.

TITLE: Maui - A Great Mythical Hero.

Introduction: I believe that Maui is a great mythical hero.

Reason 1: My first reason is that Maui helped people a lot and he was caring and would do anything to help his people.

Reason 2: Secondly, he had super human strength because he has the super powers of a demi god. He fished out the North Island from the sea.

Reason 3:  Finally, he had a magical, powerful fish-hook that was strong enough to drag a mountain behind him.

Conclusion: Now I am sure that you agree with me that Maui is a great mythical hero because he helps people, he’s strong and he is a mighty demi god with a REALLY strong hook that can help him with mostly everything.
