Here is the recount I wrote for an eAsttle writing test in Week 4. Our teacher marked all our recounts and gave us our scores. Mine came out at Level 3p which is just above the end of year standard for Year Five. I got the best score for using paragraphs and the worst scores for vocabulary and sentence structure.
We helped each other improve them by reading each other’s recount and talking about them. We also used Revision Assistant to help edit each other’s story and Mrs B added some notes as well. Everyone in our room likes Revision Assistant because it’s easy to understand the marks/ notes that it puts on your writing and so it’s quick for us to go and do the fix-ups. We have to get the spelling, grammar and punctuation really good before we are allowed to publish them here. I hope someone will give me some feedback.

“Wahoo!" I screamed. A couple of days ago, my family and I were preparing for a lovely caravan holiday for three nights at Taupo Bay.“ Mum, Dad, let’s go already.” I shouted.
“ Ok, Ok, Ok, we're coming.” Mum gasped. My family were all trying to get out the door. “Get in the car!” Dad yelled. I grabbed my bag and hopped in. My Mum and Dad came running out the door. My Dad turned on the car. We were all ready to hit the road. One hour later we arrived.
“Yes!!” I yelled. We had finally arrived at the campground.
“ Ok, guys. Let's put the awning up.” Dad said. We grabbed the awning gear out of the caravan.
Then Kate and I wanted to go to the playground. “ Can we go to the playground Dad?.” Kate asked. “ Yeah I guess so.” Dad replied. We rushed over to it. Then up and down we went on the seesaw. The seesaw hurt our butts because the seat was wooden.
After that we visited our family friends who have a beach house in Taupo bay. We all wandered over there. “ Hello, come in, come in!” screeched Ange. We also saw other famillies at their beach house who we knew. I started to play bullrush with the kids. Charlie was in. He was 8 or 9 years old. He could not tackle anyone. He was kind of bad at tackling. But we didn’t want to tell him because he would be sad and cry and walk away back to his batch. “ Bull rush!” he yelled. He did not get anyone for the 10th time. How bout the first person who Charlie touches is in with him?” Toby suggested. Everyone agreed. He touched Travis. Travis was now in with Charlie. Travis was a really good tackler. He got heaps of people. It was down to three people. Me, Lily, and Emma were the last three people. I was getting nervous.
But they all went for us one by one. And we ended our fun with a game of Tonker.
