Grandparent Recount

Kia Ora,
Last week was Greats and Grands day. It was an amazing day. My whole class wrote about our Grandparents. We used Revision Assistant to fix our writing. Here it is.

“Hurray!! It’s Friday morning!”I yelled. Me, Olivia, Todd, and Kate were  going to the movies with my gran in Kerikeri! I was super excited. My gran picked us up at our house at 9:30 and off we zoomed).
It took us 20 minutes to drive to Kerikeri from our house. We all had a great talk in the car. Finally, after 20 minutes, we arrived at the movie cinemas in Kerikeri. We got out of the car as quick as Usain Bolt. I jumped over the lines by the pedestrian crossing. We walked through the door and got our tickets. My gran kindly offered to buy us something We all answered, “ No thanks”.
We sat in the movie seats and waited and waited. Finally, they turned on the movies. It took ages for the ads to finish. The movie was really good! It was about a boy who gets lost in the woods. He finds a green, hairy dragon. His name is Elliot. My Gran said it was one of the best movies ever.

Afterwards, we drove to the Bake house. My gran is really nice and she asked if we would like to have food. Heaps of food. Of course I wanted food! I love Food!! It is like I am in paradise when I am with food. I had a sausage roll and a sparkling OH! And it tasted GREAT!!! It was as yum as chocolate cake.

We ended the day at Makana Chocolate Factory! We had little chocolate boxes each. Man, our Gran is really generous.

Fishbone Diagram

Kia Ora,
Last week was Chinese language week. So we all did a native Chinese animal fishbone diagram. We had to describe the Appearance, Habitat, Diet, Classification, Reproduction and Movement of the animal. I decided to do the Red Panda. Something I enjoyed was describing its appearance. Something I could work on is making sure that the right facts go into the right box.

Google drawing of Mt Ruapehu

Kia ora
This is a Google drawing I did of Mt Ruapehu. We are trying to get better at using Google Draw.
I used three similes to describe Mt Ruapehu and Mrs B really loves my buses.

Ski Trip Thank you letter

Kia ora
This is an activity we did when we were learning how to write a thank you letter.
Something I think I have done well  is thinking up good things to say.
Next time I think I could improve my spelling as my teacher had to give me 3 tips about spelling.

Dear Mum and Dad

Thank you so, so, so, so, so much, for letting me go on the amazing, wonderful Ski Trip.

It was the best time ever. It was so much fun learning how to ski. We were zooming like cheetahs.

I think I was good at turning, but maybe next time I should work on jumping. It would be awesome if we could go back again.

Love from Jessica:)

Ski Trip

Hello everyone,
Last week on the 29th of August 2016, all the Year 5 & 6 kids from Ohaeawai School went on a SKI TRIP!! We all met up at school to catch the bus down. It was 6:30 am and we had had to get up really early. It took us nearly 10 hours to drive from Ohaeawai to National Park. For some of us it was the furtherest we had ever been from home.
On our second day we went skiing. It was the best time ever. We  got split into groups and had little lessons about how to ski. It was very tricky especially if it was your first time. We got taught how to stop, skid, slide, ski without poles and how to go faster. It was really cool.
Then, we had to ski down a slope.  It was so hot  I had to take off some gear, including my  gloves. So when I skied down......... I tripped up on my skies and my hand slid through the cold snow. I eventually got up but now my hands were freezing.
Anyway, I started skiing again happily until my skies got faster and faster. I was trying to stop but it wasn't working! I was going  as fast as a cheetah..... I was about to trip but......... I didn't.
"YAY!"  I screamed with joy.
Next,we lined up for the ski lift. I went with my ski teacher. I forget her name but I think she was French but she could speak English. Finally, it was our turn. We had to quickly turn and then jump onto the chair lift. On the way, the ski teacher gave me some chocolate.
Then, we had to ski off the chair lift which was scary at first but you soon got used to it.
Next I tried the Magic Carpet which is kind of like a moving footpath. We skied onto it and then suddenly it just stopped. I nearly fell straight forward onto my face. Skiing is tricky!!!

Amazing Taniwha Art

Hello everyone,
For the last couple of weeks we have been learning about Taniwha's. So we decided to do some art about Taniwha's. I have made a Slideshow how to make the artwork. There are 12 steps you have to follow through. I really enjoyed how we got to draw our Taniwha how ever we wanted. Next time I could work on my blending. We drew koro's to represent our family. Here is some advise for those who want to do Amazing Taniwha Art.

Holidays

During the last school holidays my whole family got a family pass to Action World but my mum lost the family pass so she had to pay for a new one. We met up with our good friends there. I was excited because it was my first time.

First, I went on this wacky thing. So basically, you're on a pole and you have an inflatable bouncy thing underneath so you don't get hurt when you get wacked off. I got smashed off by this big kid which was really annoying.

Then after that I went on a big inflatable slide or should I say the tallest inflatable slide in the whole world! But basically, I went on it like the whole time we were there, and this is how many times I went on the big slide...... 22 times!

 It was a amazing day.
